Territory: Retusaari Island in the area of the Gulf of Finland.
Shown:
Fortifications on Retusaari Island, Merchant and Military harbours
(were constructed from 1712). The authors of the harbours were
Peter I and Captain E. Lane. The territory constructed in the
east part of the island is enclosed with the earthen multi-bastion
fortification (from 1712) with a moat, inside the fortress a canal
being constructed is shown. On the west end of the island two
batteries are marked. Southwest from the island in the area of
Gulf of Finland the Citadel (from 1722-1724) and Kronslot Fortress
(constructed in 1704 and widened in 1715-1716) are shown. The
Citadel Fort has unique projected unrealized outlines in shape
of a six-bastion fortress. The South fairway line is dotted. Buildings
and structures of Kronstadt are marked with the Roman letters
(from a to y), decoded in the explication. Among them are: the
Admiralty harbour, wooden stores, a palace, a canal to dock, Russian
and Lutheran churches, stone three-storey buildings, the Admiralty
smithy, fortifications and so on.
