It’s mentioned here that the territory of the barracks for the convicts and guard is two feet higher than surroundings. But every spring and autumn it had to be lifted two feet more on account of the flood. 6 barracks for convicts, a bathhouse and a “small water reservoir in case of accidence” are enclosed with fence, the officer guardroom and the barracks for soldiers out of the fence.
Annotation: From the first years of existence of St-Petersburg and the Baltic Fleet they used to place a marine settlement of officers and sailors, a settlement of the regiment attached to the fleet and a hard labour court by the Galernaya (Galley) Harbour. E.g. such a hard labour court was placed by the Galernaya Island. Later (from 1738 to 1740), it was transferred to Vasilievsky (Basil) Island to the area of Galernaya Harbour.
