Plan of St-Petersburg Fortress. [SPb., 1707-1710].
1 p. Manuscript. Illuminated. Paper,
Indian ink. Watercolour. 374,2x524,3 mm. French.
North-north-east-oriented.
Shown:
In the bent of the Neva is the first earthen fortress (of the
period of the reconstruction into brick-stone), in the centre
of the fortress is the wooden Apostles Peter and Paul Church (laid
on 29 of June 1703), a canal with wooden bridges. Along the canal
are palaces and storehouses, original plan of Gorodskoy (Saint-Petersburg)
Island with a merchant arcade. The fortress is connected with
Gorodskoy (Saint-Petersburg) Island with a wooden undraw bridge,
the bridge goes through the lunet. Crownwork of 1706-1707 on the
right bank of the Neva. There are only two signs: “Wasilei
Ostrow” (Basil Island) and “La riviere de Newa”
(the Neva River).
Annotation:
The real buildings of Gorodskoy Island, before the construction
of Troitskaya (Trinity) Square and the building of Collegia and
Senate are shown. The wooden Trinity Cathedral, constructed in
1710, is not existing yet. The buildings (batteries and mills)
of Basil Island are absent. So the plan could be dated 1707-1710.
Literature:
Stepanov S.D. (1998-1).
