Annotation:
Plan of the assault upon Nyenskans from a manuscript album. Town
of Nyen was left by its residents, which fled to Vyborg in October
1702, after Nöteborg (Oreshek) was seized by Russian troops.
The town buildings set on fire by the fled residents are not shown
on the plan. Only Nyenskans’ fortifications, forefortress
three-bastion fortifications and the earthen crownwork on the
left bank of the Neva remained. The moment of the assault by Russian
troops during the siege from April 23 to May 2, 1703 is shown.
Peter I was in the camp from April 26. Russian troops numbered
about 20.000, Swedes in the fortress were about 600.
