Decoration:
The title, the graphic and named scales are on unrolled banner
tassels and fringe.
Territory: The east part of Gulf of Finland, including Kotlin
Island, Neva’s mouth, Saint-Petersburg.
Shown:
Project of the canal along south shore of Gulf of Finland from
the shore by the Neva’s mouth in the area of Podzorny palace
to Oranienbaum (on the plan it’s drawn up to Siniavino);
Oranienbaum, Peterhof, on the shore along the south part of Gulf
of Finland the estates of people of higher rank and villages.
Sand-bars, sunk boats, fairways are marked. On the north shore
of Gulf of Finland there are villages, palace Dubki. The islands,
on which Saint-Petersburg is located are signed, buildings of
the city are shown, the main structures are marked: the Admiralty,
Peter and Paul Fortress with Crownwork, Alexander Nevsky Lavra,
Sinyavinsky Regiment settlement to the east. Southeast from the
city’s centre there are churches, cemeteries, monasteries
(Novodevichy, Alexander Nevsky). On Kotlin Island is planning
of Kronstadt, Citadel. A project of defence line, lying from the
south shore of Gulf of Finland west from Oranienbaum around Kotlin
Island up to Lisiy Nos with a system of forts from south and north,
is dotted.
Annotation:
The map is a result of detailed Russian hydrographic work in 1740,
a more precise definition of 1768 is given under the leadership
of Captain A. Nagayev (from 1768 Admiral). The plan is badly damaged.
