Annotation:
This is one of versions of the project of the construction of
new Nyenskans fortification system, initiated by E. Dahlberg.
The draft project was signed in Stockholm May 22, 1671. Another
fortification system is marked, including Nyenskans Citadel, simultaneously
with forefortress works – three-bastion Crownwork on the
same cape between Neva R. and Black Stream. At the same time they
declined fortification works around the town, their construction
was started in 1658-1661 and ended up to 1666. According to the
project the town with blocks of buildings was meant to move to
Nyenskans Crownwork and to locate residential districts inside
the Crownwork, because the town and its fortifications couldn’t
ensure enough defence.
Literature:
Munte, Lappo-Danilevsky, Hipping.
