Annotation: The draft project signed in Stockholm March 19, 1671. The project of the construction of new Nyenskans fortification system was initiated by E. Dahlberg, worked out by U. Schtahl (?). It was proposed to decline fortification works located around the town, their construction was started in 1658-1661 and ended up to 1666. Another fortification system including Nyenskans Citadel fortification, simultaneously with forefortress works – three-bastion Crownwork on the same cape between Neva R. and Black Stream, was more progressive. Inside the Crownwork a residential district was designed, for the town and town buildings were meant to move to Nyenskans Crownwork’s territory, because the town and its fortifications couldn’t ensure enough defence.
Literature: Munte, Lappo-Danilevsky, Hipping.
